Circulation Questions & Answers

• The Orange County Public Law Library is open to everyone and serves the legal research needs of residents and the local legal community.

• Reference assistance is available to all in person or by telephone. Call 714/834-3397.

• Show proof of residency in Orange County (e.g., driver's license) or show proof of law office location in Orange County.

• Fill out a brief application.

• Submit $100 in cash or check made payable to "Orange County Public Law Library".

• It is cashed and placed in a revolving, non-interest bearing deposit account.

• It is refundable, less any outstanding fines or charges, three months from the date of deposit upon written request of the borrower, provided all Library materials have been returned.

• It is refundable up to one year after suspension of borrowing privileges upon written request of the borrower; thereafter, the deposit becomes the property of the Law Library.

• Once the deposit is refunded, borrowing privileges cease.

• It will be refunded and mailed within 10 working days of written request.

• Borrowers will be suspended by the Board of Law Library Trustees if the borrower fails to return overdue books or fails to pay all outstanding fines due within 30 days after the date the Library mails a notice to the borrower.

• A resident borrower may check out up to five items at a time .

• Library books and materials circulate for fourteen days unless designated as non-circulating [Effective May 1, 1998].  No renewals.

• Fines are $1 dollar per day, per item.

• Looseleaf services, digests, citators and reference materials do not circulate.
